Start Building Healthy Conflict

We know that too little or too much conflict on the team are both bad.

 

How do we achieve that ideal sweet spot?

While creating a culture that embraces healthy conflict doesn’t look very complex in this visual, it does take the full team to get this right – starting with the team lead.

Three steps to get the team going in the right direction:

Step 1: During a time of low conflict on the team, have this discussion up front. Be clear about how the team will embrace conflict productively.

Step 2: Regularly invest time in getting to know each other’s communication style when it comes to conflict. DISC Assessment or MBTI is a great place to start.

Step 3: When discussing high-friction topics, point fingers at the process, not the people.
