From least important to most important, here we go:
- Always Promote and Be Smooth About it
Luda did a great job promoting his other brands… more than once… and he did it smoothly, keeping it relevant to the show. It’s okay to drop names or share your brand, just be relevant to the situation.
- Know Your Audience
This concert marked the first HipHop concert at TPC, ever. More than likely, not the exact target market for a Luda concert. He worked the crowd perfectly and had so much fun doing it. He was 100% prepared to meet the crowd at their energy and pivot when needed.Don’t just copy/paste your presentation or your talk track because that’s what you’re comfortable with. Meet your audience at their needs and adapt from there.
- Let Your Team Shine
Yes, we were all there to see Ludacris and not necessarily his DJ. But that didn’t stop him from working off his DJ and at one point even giving the stage to the DJ to show off his skills.Your team is going to work harder if you let them enjoy the spoils. Invest in your team and they will invest in you… and even carry the show when needed.
- Remain Focused Under Pressure
When Ludacris’ ear monitor malfunctioned, he didn’t make a thing of it. I noticed a quick eyeroll and smirk to the stagehand, and he just pulled the wires off of himself and kept going. All without missing a beat–literally.Things are not always going to work as planned. If you let it get under your skin, your performance is bound to suffer. Let it go and work your magic.
And the number one business takeaway from the Ludacris concert… - Know Your Craft
No matter what your job title is, be great at what you do. Seeing Chris ‘Ludacris’ Bridges in action on stage was inspiring to say the least. Every word, every move, every crowd interaction was practiced to be on beat and look natural. He’s earned his name by putting in the hard work and reps… and we have to expect the same from ourselves.
Decide now, are you going to be okay at what you do or are you going to be GREAT at what you do?! It’s not up to your boss. It’s not up to the economy. Being great is a decision YOU make every morning. Being great is putting in the reps and enjoying every minute of it.
Becoming great at your craft doesn’t happen by accident—it takes intentional reps, adaptability, and the right support system.
